VCCA Home Forums TECHNICAL - 1945 AND EARLIER 1929-1932 What years share common parts?

Ok, I admit it! I'm a newbie around here. I've been working on my car and learning as I go. One thing that is becoming clear is that "back in the day", Chevy stayed the course with certain components thruout model/year change. Engine, Chassis, etc. are just some of the major stuff they stayed with. PatS has a 34 with a front seat housing that looks to be the same as one of my 31's. Can any of you long time Chevy guys add to the 28-? list of parts? Thanks, Al W.

Thats were a parts interchange book comes in handy. Alas i had one of those too....DONT KNOW WERE IT WENT! GM did this kind of thing all the time. They may still be doing it. Trouble is you got to know what fits what...and you'd be hard pressed for parts store "specialists" to come out and tell you.

Along with the interchange manuals, you should have a stack of various years of Chevrolet parts books so that you can look up each individual part to determine what year or years the part might fit.

However, many of the parts shown in the parts books were also retrofit items for other years of vehicles and that is something that you would have to determine in your research as well.
