I decided to go through the cooling system on my 31 five window sport coupe and would like to put it back correctly. My car came from up north originally and has a HaDees heater installed. The pictures I have looked at on-line show various configurations. My car had a nipple installed in the lower radiator hose and the other nipple is located below the upper neck on the left side of the block. I have been told the heaters were dealer installed. These are my questions, thanks for any help, I know this is the place for answers.
Question #1 - Did the dealer put the hose nipple in the block, I see pictures of motors without it installed and no heater?
Question #2 - Is the hose nipple in the lower radiator hose correct?
Question #3 - Is the correct routing of the heater hose to the left side of the block over the valve cover?
Question #4 - I have a spacer under the upper radiator hose neck with a thermostat installed. Were these added with the heater installation also?

For complete detailed instructions and illustrations on how to install all of the genuine Chevrolet accessory heater components, refer to the September, 1931 issue of the Chevrolet Service News. This literature piece will answer all of your questions.

The September, 1931 issue is part of a complete set of 12 issues for 1931 and you can purchase the complete set in reprint from the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon.

The instructions with a smaller version of the hole location template was in the G&D several years ago. Sorry but don't remember which and am not currently where I can look it up.

Thanks for the info. I was wandering if I should buy that set, I believe it will be worth it in long run. I question things done to the car in its past 80 years and would like to make it all original as possible. Its all number matching and pretty true to form.

Dawg,

I have this fine genuine Chevrolet heater restored from one of our distinguished VCCA members (thanks Ray) hanging on my firewall. I have my September 1931 CSN and the instruction are clear. However, I have not found a fitting to make the connection "C" to the lower rad hose as shown in the CSN.

Can you point me in right direction to my quarry like a good Dawg?
