Will '31 welled front truck fenders fit and look OK on my '30 truck?

Someone is trying to sell ME the '31 welled truck fenders for my '30. The parts book shows the front support irons are the same, but there are no numbers for the '30 fenders. Are they the same?

I have never seen any 1931-2 series L, M, N welled fenders so my reply is based on logic and many years experience with both cars and trucks.
The 1931 1 1/2 ton truck front welled fenders can not be the same as 1930 passenger front welled fenders. Basically truck tires are larger so don't fit into passenger car wells. I suspect that the truck wells are more shallow and wider. I would ask the seller to give you detailed measurements of the location, width, depth of the wells to be sure. Some of us can compare them with known measurements of 1930 welled fenders.

Thanks for the thought. I assumed he was talking about an AE truck fender. You know what assumptions can do for you! He does not have internet access so I will have to write him with those questions. I'm sure it will be a few days before I get an answer. I'll post any answers I get.

The AE welled front fenders (P/N 365190, 365191) were only used on 1931 passenger. [Note: The wider 18 x 5.25" tires used in 1932 required wider fender wells.] The non-welled front fenders (P/N 359888, 359889, were only used on 1931 passenger and 1932 series BB Deluxe 1/2 ton trucks. The 1931 trucks both AE 1/2 ton and LT or M series used a non-welled fender looking like the '29-'30 passenger and truck. There are a few differences that are easy to spot if you know what to look for. There are also differences in the early 1929 and late 1930 front fenders. Sorry don't know exactly when the change was made but could have been during production in 1929 or 1930. I suspect it was later in 1929 production but don't have documentation or accurate observations to support it.
