Give us all the numbers you can find on your 28. Since it is a closed car you need to check the floor on the passengers side. If someone were sitting in the seat as a passenger, check the area under what would be the heel of the right foot. You will also find a tag on the cowl. Record this information also.

8170 = 1928 5 passenger coach, assembled in St Louis, MO. 82878 is the assembly sequence number. Take another look at the head and block and see if you can identify the date code.

The most interesting number on the head and the block is the casting date. This information is located on each item. It will be in the format of: C 13 8 On the head this will be located on top and at the cowl end. On the block it will be on the passenger side and back near the cowl. See if you can locate those? If you really want to get involved, remove the exhaust manifold and on the face of the left exhaust port check for a long series of numbers. Copy those down. On the serial number pad on the right side (passenger) of the block copy down those numbers. See if they match, if so, they both left the factory on the same vehicle. If no match, something (probably the head), was changed over it's short 73 year lifetime.
