I recently purchased a very rough 35 5W and I am attempting to collect all the data that I can before I begin the process of restoring this car. The wood is non-existant in the frame/floor, the interior, and the doors. There is nothing from which to make a pattern. I have no idea what the correct dimensions for the body are; the rockers are gone and the lower front portions of the 1/4 panels are also gone. I bought the 1935/36 Chevrolet Service Manual and the Body Manual but neither are much help. I found replacement 1/4 panel sections, rockers, and tail pan from EMS but I will need some body dimensions before I weld them in place.
Does anyone know where I can get the tech data I need? Thanks....

You can get technical help on the wood and a complete wood kit from Autowood Restoration in Hanna, Indiana. Phone: (219) 797-3775 Ask for Jim Rodman. yipp laugh laugh laugh

Thanks for the info. I did talk with Jim Rodman last week, he told me that he didn't handle the 35 Chevy wood but he gave me the name of a gentleman in PA who did. I was hesitant to ask for dimensions and tech data from him since I had yet to commit to a purchase. I didn't ask Jim if he had drawings, do you think that I should get back to him?

I don't think that Jim has any drawings. I would wait and talk to the fellow that you purchase the wood kit from and then ask for technical advise at that time. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

The '35 Tech advisor frequents this forum and can provide a lot of help. Another VCCA member finished restoring including rewooding his '35 Master 5 W coupe a couple of years ago. He occasionally visits. Are you a VCCA member? If so the Technical Advisors are available. If not I recommend joining. You can visit the Club website [www.vcca.org] for more information on the club and an application form.
