new member here.. many of you may know me from other forums.

recently purchased wood for my 48 olds wagon (the fisher wood body is the same as a 48 chevy)

here is where I am currently with the project

somehow I need to come up with hinges for the rear doors..
the hinges look like this. [Linked Image from images58.fotki.com]

can anyone assist me?

I have one hinge which I believe is correct and another which is similar.. but would like to find a set..
I DONT currently have a gm parts book of the era.. and wondered if a gm parts book might shed light onto the correct part numbers for these particular hinges..
thanks in advance

I have a suspicion that these hinges may be similar to those used on 48 - 52 chevy trucks?

I can't help much but really doubt that the hinges are the same as any other GM car or truck. The reason is that the bodies were not made by GM or Fisher Body but a contract body company. They would have used the hinges that they preferred. Your best bet may be to make the hinges you need. I know that it may take some time and talent but it could take years to find the correct hinges. Been there, done that way too many times. Now the first thing I think of is: "Can I or someone I know make these parts?" Over the years I have learned to make a bunch of stuff including hinges, jack handles, metal pressing dies, springs, etc. I have been told "you can make it with that!" many times only to have them say later "I didn't know you could do that."

I was under the impression that in 48 the wood was done by fisher..

however you may be correct..
I dont know that I will have much luck finding the correct hinges.. but perhaps someone in this community can identify that the hinges I seek are "close" to some other hinge made by GM..
I did have to make a number of parts for my 1940 ford wagon with a good deal of success.

Ionia Manufacturing (Ionia, Michigan) built 1946 (900) & 1947 (554) Chevrolet station wagon bodies, later sold to AO Smith built Corvette bodies, then sold to General Tire built Corvette body parts into the 90s. It was one of the multitude (~1200) of contract body companies that built bodies, body parts, etc. for many vehicle assembly companies.
