I'm working on restoring an old stock car racer which I believe is a 1933 Chevy 3 window coupe. The right side door has been cut down so that the driver can step into the car easily. I would like to locate a replacement with the stock window openning intact. Condition is not important. I have located a pretty solid 5 window door which I may use to try to patch together the original 3 window door. Ideally, I would like to swap the 5 window door for a suitable 3 window door. Any ideas who might have some parts laying around that they would be willing to swap? I do not know if the body I have is a Mercury/Standard, or an Eagle/Master (it was a rumble seat car)so if a door is located I would have to measure the car to verify whether or not it would fit. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Phone number: 845-446-2905 e-mail: f85racer@aol.com

Hi f85, I can't help with you're door problem, but I think it's realy neat to be restoring a stock car racer. Tell us more about it. Does it have the original 6 cylinder engine? How about the suspension, and interior? do you know it's history? You might want to try e-bay motors, collector cars, Chevrolet, parts. Sometimes body parts for 30's cars show up.

If it had a rumble seat it would be a Eagle/Master

The car is a 1933 Chevrolet 3 widow coupe which was turned into a stock car racer probably in the late 1950's. It is rumoured to have raced at Middletown NY's Orange County Fair Speedway as late as 1968. I suspect that it may have seen action ealier at Peekskill Stadium NY. It was evidently wrecked badly in its last outing and was subsequently scavenged for useable parts and left to rot in the woods of Peekskill until we dragged it out last year. It was on the original frame rails and reportedly utilized a **** 300 six cylinder engine. The original roll cage was made of old driveshaft tubes and water pipe. The frame was so far gone that we have replaced it with a 1951 Chevrolet frame (shortened) and fabricated a new roll cage. We have also mounted a 327 Chevy engine and a quick change rear end. Anyone who would like a photo e-mailed just get in touch with me. We also have a 1937 Chevy coupe stock car restored to 1970's modified condition.

Yes, evidently this body is a Eagle or Master as another member has told me that if the inside panel of the deck lid is steel (which mine is), he is positive that the Mercury or Standard was wood framed. Now I would like to know if anyone has information as to interchanging doors between Standard and Master or between 1933 and 1934? Also, is the 2 door sedan door in fact the same length as the 3 window coupe door?

ChevyNut, According to 60 yrs. of Chevrolet, there was a variation of the 2 passenger coupe that had a rumble seat. This was a separate body style in the Mercury Series. Wheelbase 107", and had a louvered hood for economy reasons. The Mercury Series was not introduced until March of 1933. The car was a 3 window design.

F85racer, After checking in the Master Price List manual of 1942 which covers 29 thru 42 I found the following: Group 10.351 Door, front 1933 part # 4037516 right Jobs 33551-81-601 1933 part # 4037517 left Jobs 33551-81-601 1933 part # 4037518 right Jobs 33559 1933 part # 4037519 left Jobs 33559 Check if you have a job # stamped on the firewall plate or somewhere else. "CA"=Eagle, and "CC"=Standard. It looks like 34 and 35 doors might be interchangable with each other, but not the 33. I can't tell what Jobs No. are Master or Standard. I think it's time for a 33 guy to jump in here.

Thanks ChevyNut, I never bothered with the details on a 33. I have a 1932 and a 1936. The 1933 seems to be a complicated year, what with the V8 equipted competition, and being in the middle of the depression. Though, I found the information interesting. It appears Chevy (GM) was setting things up for some major changes during the years ahead. For f85racer, it looks like two different sets of doors were used. What door fits what is still open for discussion. Where are all the 33 guys?

I have a 1933 mercury series 3 window coupe and NOTHING fits that car from any other year!!! Wrecked mine in 1976 and it took me 3 years to find enough parts to put it back together. I had to take pieces of 3 rad shells to make a good one....They are narrower, shorter and just plain different......

1933, 1934, 1935 std 3window plus 33 master 3 window doors will all fit each other. 34/35 are not 100% correct. (internal differences). will fit. look the same. has a diaganal bolt running through the door. now F85racer has the upper parts to the doors so he could use 33/34/34 std plus 33 master coach doors to fix his problem. the length & width are the same, just window frame difference. joe
