Good Day.

I seem to be missing a small piece of interior door trim, right below the window. Does anyone know what the piece looks like that fits in the two holes and where I could purchase them (I need two)?

Also, my speedometer is 15 to 17 mph off. As you can see, the needle is well below the "0" mark when the car is stopped. What would be the best way to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help. :)

There is a small chrome rectangular bar that attaches to the trim. Someone must have removed it when they repainted it Good luck on finding one.

Isn't there a small pin that the speedometer arm rests against at 0 mph ? It might have broken off.

Yikes! It sounds like it will be hard to find an original piece. Is there any where to buy a replica?

Thanks.

I'm not 100% positive but, I don't think there was ever a pin. After reading your post I went and looked closely at the speedometer and could not see a place where a pin might have been. Does your 38 have a pin? (By the way, I love the color of your car. ;-) )

(Edit - spelling)

The speedometer will need to be removed - the needle removed (just pulls off) and then resinstalled so it rests at zero.
For some reason it is common to see a 1937 speedo where the needle rests slghtly below zero but not that much and there IS NO PIN that will prevent it from dropping below zero.

Thanks Gene. That sounds simple enough for me to try.

For the Interior door Trim try this Co.www.iandireproduction.com They sell a lot of 1936-1939 Chevy trim parts.

Also try Tim Tygart's Obsolete Chevy Parts. He has a warehouse full of Chevy "stuff" or The Filling Station.

If you come up short, try an ad in G&D, & ebay.

Good Luck

Bill thanks. I found this picture of a 37 door. The trim piece looks the same as the one on ebay, although it is kind of hard to tell. I'm just trying to decide if I should grab that one, or wait to try to find a pair. Thanks again.

Buy it, tell the seller you just want the trim piece & if he'll drop the shipping to $5 (small flat rate box), you'll tell him what year the molding is so he has a better chance of selling it. Whether you take the whole thing or just the trim piece I would grab it. A non reproduced part may not show up again for a long time and then it may be another single instead of a pair.

Thanks for the tip Tiny. I have sent the seller an email and will let you know what happens. If he doesn't want to sell it separately, I may just go ahead and buy it anyway. I haven't seen another one ANYWHERE.
