Can anyone tell me how tall the headlight post stanchion is on a 1931 Coach?

Headlight stanchions were used on the 1929 and 1930 models, not 1931.

I suspect my measurement may be slightly off, my measurement included the base. The posts I have also came from I&I. They matched the originals that were on the car exactly.

Thanks, do you know if there is any spacers between the frane and the fenders and splash apron that would make the stanchions sit higher? Right now thet don't reach the headlight bar.

There are no spacers on the base of the stanchions. However, there is a large nut that goes under the headlight bar that has a round shank that fits into the top of each stanchion.

Also there is a rubber gasket that fits between the base of the stanchion and the apron. But that shouldn't be a factor in reaching the headlight bar. I suspect that you're missing the nut (with the shank) that fits under the headlight bar and holds the headlight in place once the headlights are properly aligned.

I measured the original stanchions on my 1930 coupe and they are exactly 10" long. If your stanchions are only 9 3/4" long they are too short.

How long is the nut with the shank that fits under the bar?

With your stanchions only 9 3/4" long, the shank on the nut is probably not long enough to make up the difference because the shank is designed for a 10" long stanchion.

Not sure how long the shank is, but I would guess a half inch. They are available at the Filling Station (part number AF-154).If you call them I'm sure they can give you the specs.
When you measured the posts, did you include the base (which is about a quarter of an inch).

On the original stanchions, the flat base is very thin.

Still 1/8" short.....but it might work if you have the nuts with the shank and then maybe put a thin spacer under the stanchion base.

I believe that Stanley's Parts in Fort Worth, Texas has the correct length stanchions.
