Hi,

Can you tell me about the breather tube coming off the oil filler and going into the carby??

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

That is standard on 1928 only from what I have been told. It was originally a spiral wound metal tubing, but it had come apart and was not working anymore as a tube so I just replaced it with a piece of heater hose. It is just a pcv system without a pcv valve.

My two 1928 engines have a solid bent steel tube as the crankcase breather tube. They seem to be original.

Actually Tyler, that arrangement is NOT standard on any 1928 engine. The 28 engine is equipped with a PCV system consisting of the pipe that goes from the hole in the block near the water pump, to the connection provided for it on the input to the carburetor.

Another pipe goes from the input to the carburetor around behind the block and is connected to the heat stove on the header pipe.
