Can someone tell me what covers the nails that hold the upholstery at the very bottom of the 38 Business Coupe seat all along the front bottm edge? I have a feeling I'm missing a strip of metal or upholstery...Billu38

When I took my orginal cover off the lower front edge had the material folded under and tacked to the wood frame. No metal strip. The only metal was the springs and frame. There is a metal strip that connects the seat to the package tray. Which I need to have chromed..grin

do you have a picture of the strip that attaches to the back of the seat to the package tray?

I just looked. Mine is covered by the tray material, the metal strip is under the tray . It's a piece of flatbar about 3/4" X the length of the tray X 1/8" thick. It has 3/32" holes drilled in it to secure the flex material to the tray. Wood screws that are countersunk and either chrome or SS.

Tiny, I just read the story of how you found and bought your 38 Coupe you now have (the "before and after article"). I noticed that the 3rd picture from the end of the article shows your interior, namely the seat..I see what looks like a 3 inch wide upholstered strip running around the bottom of the seat. Is this what covers the upholstery nails? Steve said his upholstery tucked under the seat and was nailed under the seat?? His had no strip. Appreciate any help thx. Billu38

It's just a trim strip. My upholstery is stapled to the bottom of the wood seat frame. You can see the very bottom of the trim as it comes around the front corner of the seat as well as the staples. I have no clue as to whether nails or staples were originally used since I hired the upholstery work done.

No, it just goes down the sides and slightly around the front. You can see where it ends in the pic.

Thanks Tiny, I think you just solved a long standing mystery for me. I've had 2 pieces of 3-4 in. wide sheetmetal that were badly bent out of shape by whoever pulled them off the car. I just located them, starightened them a bit and layed them on the side of my Coupe seat...the holes for the nails that hold the trim on line up! They came off a 4-door sedan seat so the back is not correct (on the sedan the trim comes around back like it does on the front)..I can just trim the back..you don't see it anyhow...another mystery solved..thanks Tiny..Billu38

Are you talking about the side trim at the bottom of the seat? I thought we were talking about the front part of the seat at the bottom.

Steve...all of the above...started out as "what covers nails"..winds up what I was really missing was that trim piece that goes along the side and a little in front..thanks for your responses..Billu38
