Since I will be installing a 216 intake on my 235 soon to fix the leaning carb issue and was kind of wanting to get rid of the fentons for a split manifold to heat the intake but have not seen many split manifolds I liked. Most have a funky looking flange for the rear pipe and I would like to find one with a factory flange area welded on for the rear to look similar to the factory split manifold on the 54 corvette. Anybody know who still makes split manifolds and could make one like that since I dont know how to weld cast iron or know anyone who does.

What is it you are trying to do with a split manifold ?
If you want to have the intake heated for driveability concerns, there are kits available that are widely used with fentons ..... either with water or heat. The kit connects to the bottom side of the intake, where the intake would normally attach/bolt to the factory exhaust manifold. Patricks sells these kits, many other inliner places do, as well.
I don't see how a 216 intake will solve a "lean" condition on a 235 engine.

I've got a really sexy split manifold that I took off my 48 model 216. It's got a piece of 1 1/2 inch water pipe welded to the manifold bottom for an extra down pipe. I had to remove the whole extra exhaust system with a sawzall. I assume the "lean" you're talking about is that the carb pad on the intake manifold is machined at a slight angle. The 216 intakes are made the same way - because with the engine sitting nose high in the car, because of the enclosed drivetrain, the carb ends up level.

The 57 intake makes the carb lean towards the front since its in a 37 and the motor sits level,I read that in 40 the motor was lowered a little in the rear so most intakes are going to make the carb not level in my situation.

The carb base should remain level, the "adjustment" on the driveline to make certain the carb is level is by modifying the trans crossmember.
I thought your word " lean" was referring to lean or rich.

It might be some time before the Fentons come off unless I find a decent looking split manifold or find a 54 or 54 corvette manifold soon.

I have seen them as high as 950 but hoping I can find one at a swapmeet that someone does not know what it originally came off of.

I am not in a hurry, I have lots of body work to do yet. If you decide, please keep me in mind. I can always message you my e-mail. Thanks! I am like most, working with a budget, so what ever you decide, just tell me what you are willing to let them go at? I of course expect to pay S&H.

I did see a nice one on Chevy talk classified not too long ago, asking price was $500. From what I hear, that's a pretty good price for a nice one. When I was looking for one 20-25 years ago, and they were around $250, Pellini told me that back in the mid-50's he used to sell them like hotcakes at the parts counter of his Chevy dealership for $20. Of course that 20 dollar bill was a lot different than the one now.....

I would love to find a NOS manifold in the basement of a older dealer.
