Hey.....
Tomorrow (barring any interference from the bride) I plan on removing my windshield. I'm going to replace it with safety glass. Does anyone have any last minute hints before I delve into this? I would hate to break it but if I do does anyone have a pattern they may be willing to sell me or let me know where I can get one ?
thanks again,
Cliff

I took my two side window glass with metal frames to a window shop and watched them take out the glass. Without braking it, they used some chisel like tools which along with a hammer slowly drove the frames up and away from the glass. I think some very hard pieces of wood and a hammer with one person pulling the frame while the other strikes the hammer would work. They also sprayed some liquid on the glass along the material interface which may have helped. Jim

It was a big challenge for me to get the glass out of the metal frames. The glass eventually broke.
I have a windshield pattern that Sid Carey sent to me. I would be happy to pass it on to someone who needs it. One question for the experts is the glass size the same for sedans and coupes?

Please tell me the proper width of the windshield. The car I bought seems to have a loose fitting windshield. Thank You, Al W.

You can make a pattern windshield from masonite or other hardboard. After fitting it you can then have the glass cut.

Well didn't get to the windshield until tonight. No go. Removed the side pieces and the header board, then I removed the tacks on the rubber at the side of the windshield. It almost seems it is welded into place. The top of the windshield is not stuck but I think the side are the problem. Any wisdom from the wise as to how to proceed ?
Thanks,
Cliff

You will most likely need to cut the side strips and remove the lip from the inner edge. I found a hammer and wood chisel worked best once the glass is out.
