Does anybody know where I might be able to locate a fog lamp lens and 2 gaskets for my 1939 master deluxe? The lamps are Dietz model 609 and the one good lens I have has "part # 450" written on it. I'm pretty positive these are original to this car. The lens is convex or domed and measures about 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 diameter. Thanks again for all of your help.

Alos check G&D ads.

Dietz lights are aftermarket. The correct 1939 lights were made by the Guide Division of GM and had the raised verticle crease in the center of the lens.

Thank you for the replies so far. I'll search on the internet today. Gene, is there a chance these Dietz lights were sold in 1939 and installed at Chevrolet dealer? My great grand parents who owned the car died in the 1950's and I'm pretty sure that none of the other drivers in my family added anything to the car. The lights also have "approved for penn. 1937" stamped on them also.

parking Have you considered using sealed beam fog lamps in your lights, at least until you can find new lenses? I converted a pair of 12v Dietz red emergency lights off an ambulance into fog lights by using yellow sealed beams. I had to cut new notches in the bucket to accommodate the 6v lamps but those are covered by the outer chrome ring and can't be seen. The 6v yellow sealed beam fog lamps are close to 6 inches across to that would be something you would need to check first to see if they would fit into your lights. Just a thought. Beamer

Good Luck,

I've been told that Unity still makes & sells those sealed beams. I had several cases of them (4012A Wagner bulbs) but sold them on ebay. I think I saw a pair on ebay recently. Here's a single but the size isn't listed.
Some here maybe.

Its possible that the dealer could have installed them. More possible that they were purchased at an auto store and installed by the owner - which was common back then because they would have been 1/2 the price.

Tiny, I thought maybe I bought a couple of yours but I checked and they are GE. Same number though. Does I & I still charge an arm and a leg for postage? I needed a couple of small gaskets once and they had them but the postage was just outrageous so I passed. Beamer

I don't remember for sure but I think they were $14 each, maybe $16 plus their shipping cost is crazy like Beamer said. I only needed one but it seems no one is making them any longer. The lady at I&I said they had several left so if you're going to buy any you should do it quick.
