I bought a truck just like this from my uncle that used to belong to my grandpa. I believe its a 1928 1 ton, because it has push rod covers on the engine, but can't find the serial number on the body anywhere. Can someone tell me the model and where the tag should be? I borrowed the picture just for reference, this is not my truck. [img:left]http://www.flickr.com/photos/jacksnell707/3313073378/[/img] Thanks, Jeremy Williams

Hi!
Yes that is a 1928 LM 1 Ton. I have a 1928 LP 1 Ton, 4 wheel brakes and last year of the 4 cyl. The VIN# is the engine number. The body tag can be found on the passenger side of the seat riser. It is an metal tag approximately 3"x4" and is nailed to the wood. It will ID if LO, LM, or LP. If you post the engine number, and numbers/letters from the block, this group can help you ID the year and model.
Best,
Paul

If the truck is a '28 with 2 wheel brakes,'28 engine & 3spd transmission,it will be an LO series.Front wheel brakes and the pressed steel front spring shackle pin bracket point to it being an LP series with a 4 spd trans as standard fitment. An optional 4 spd transmission was offered for the '28 LO series 1 ton truck.

Thanks for the replies, the truck does have 4 wheel brakes, but I am not sure if the transmission is a 3 or 4 speed. I will check that and get the numbers off of the engine next time I am able to move enough snow to crawl in the shed. Take Care, Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
I have a 28 LP I am currently restoring. If the Shifter has a little lever on it it is a 4 speed. That is a reverse lock out.
Thanks
Woodbutcher

Oh well it must be a 4 speed then, it has that small lever, I never knew what it was for though. Thanks for the help, I'm sure I will need more when I can get it out and see if it will run (it has never been stuck) and restore/rebuild it. Jeremy
