Top hinge on PS door needs to be replaced.
Are top and bottom hinges interchangeable? Also,
will driver side and passenger side interchange,
Thanks,

Glen, I have a 41 Chevy and the top and bottom hinges are not the same size. The bottom is smaller. The driver side is interchangeable with the passenger side. Parts are available to put new hinge pins in. What is your problem with your hinge?

Mike

P.S. I have a good top hinge from a 42 2 door sedan. Send me a MP if you want to purchase it. Noticed your post a couple of days ago and was surprised no one had answered you. If you ever get impatient waiting for an answer try posting to the 37-42 chat site. We have a great group of guys on it they might be helpful.

Mike,
Thanks for your response. Both hinges have been removed
from the door. Bottom hinge is ok, but the pin in the top hinge
has been sheered off at the joint. We are attempting to press
the pin halves out, but I am doubtful that a replacement pin will work even if we can get the old pins out.
Tried drilling with out success, those pins are super hard.
That is a lot of verbage to say yes, I am interested in buying your hinge. (glen-adams@att.net) Also, need check link for right door
Your in put is appreciated.

The front door hinges are the same for 1942-1948 passenger cars. The left and right and upper and lower are all different.

Thanks Gene for letting me know that a passenger side door hinge won't fit on a driver's side. That mistake could be embarrassing and cost a lot of extra postage.

Glen I have had a fair amount of luck using heat to free up stuck parts, and if you think you are going to walk away from this part why not get it good and hot with a torch, and then drive it out. The only down side would be you still can not get the pin out or you weaken the metal, which I know nothing about. So maybe someone will comment and tell us this is a bad idea??? About 80% of the time I have saved a bad situation from happening by the use of heat on a stubborn nut, screw, or bolt.

I'll start looking for the right hinge, a check link, and send you an email. Good luck, Mike

Thanks Gene for the clarification. Mike, we will try heat
and let you know results.

Glen A.
