Is anyone reproducing the aluminum trin used to cover the nails holding the fabric roof material on a 31 closed car? If so who is it and how much does it cost?

I just sold 12 feet of the molding on ebay in January. I think I got it (in the early 1990's) from a guy who moved his operation to California and I think he went under the name Steve's auto parts.

I have been looking for this trim for my sport coupe. It is time to reassemble and I have lots of questions to deal with. The roof on my car was taped on, there was no molding, so I do not have any sample to compare or match. If there are no current sources for this trim, does anyone know if there is any molding comparable to what was on the cars? What about the styles of aluminum roof molding sold by LeBaron Bonney? Are any of them similar to the Chevy molding? Perhaps someone has a suggestion on what to use in place of the Chevy molding.
Jim.

Have you looked at Filling Station RW-597? It's on page 102 of the June 2010 catalog, Fisher body roof molding - aluminum D shape 5/8" wide in 5 foot sections, listed for 1932-36. Why would it not work for 1931?
If you have old Chevrolets, other old Chevrolets will find out where you live.

RW465 looks more like the correct molding. It is nailed in place and folded over.

Along with the interior kit, I ordered a top kit for my '34 3 window coupe from Hampton. It came with the trim you are referring. It is not the metal trim as original but rather a vinyl wire-on configuration. I did not use it since I had my original metal trim, but it would have worked well.
I saw a '35 with the same Hampton top kit at Barrett-Jackson that had used their trim and it looked very close to the original. PM me if you are interested and I could send you a picture. I would also be willing to part with the trim since I did not use it.

I have a 8 1/2 foot long peice. It is about 11/16' wide fold over aluminum, like the original. E-mail me if interested. bwbugay@aol.com

I called the Filling Station about part number RW-465. They advised the part is listed in the catalog but is not available and no one makes it (as Junkyard Dog said). They keep it listed anyway, and if it is not available it goes on a wish list. They could not say when it would be produced or available again.
Does anyone know the exact dimensions? Is it 5/8 inches, 1/2 inch, 11/16 inches wide?

I measured mine and the closed (folded over) width is 5/8. If you find some you will need to build a jig to get the curve the goes at the rear of the top. It's very difficult to work with.

You can find an exact reproduction from the Ford Model A parts suppliers like Schneiders, Brattons, and Mack's. I have found many cross over parts for my Chevrolets and Studebaker from Mack's. They are also lower cost replacemnet on wiper blades, and some common misc. items.
