i aquired the complete car. i did find the vin plate and it says chev all the way. the vin was on the front sill by the battery box door in the floor, but the battery itself is in a box mounted on the right inner fender well.

The correct location for the battery would be under the floor.A Layfayette was a lower priced car made by Nash.No relation to GM.I guess that you will need to give so more details. The Chev. will have an over head valve engine--Spark plugs on right side of engine---Layfayette has a flat head engine ,plugs on top.Perhaps a Layfayette grill was adapted to car??I just trying to think as to what else would have an emblem----Hub caps ,if original will have a bow tie emblem and tail light lens had bow tie and Chev name.Hod sides will have two long horizontal louvers,Plain if Standard series and with chrome moulding on each if Master.

thanks for the info, the way you describe it , it does sound and look like a 36 master. overhead valves , plugs on the right side,2 long chrome strips on the hood. maybe an adaption of the grill and relocation of the battery box. it has the knee action buckets in the front suspension also. guess ill find out more when i get into it. thanks for the help. krnut
