Is there a piece of trim that goes on the edge of the roof line at the rear of the car that separates the sheet metal from the vinyl top on a 28 4 door sedan? If so how hard is that piece to find?

are you talking about the wide U shaped notch on the top rear roof panel, where the vinyl meet's the metal? I think that is what you are after.
On my 28 coach I have a lead nail strip that forms to this wide U shape that meets to the vinyl, so I would think that your's would be the same, I have not seen any for sale in the 4 years that I have owned my car, so may be hard to find, maybe some one on the VCCA might have one for sale or might know where to find one.

My 28 coach has that moulding but someone used sheet metal screws on it and it looks horrible. I have a copy of the Fisher Body book and it talked about that moulding having nails embedded in the moulding and if a nail pops back up through it , the book says to solder the hole over after getting the nail pushed back down.

I have to find one of those my car did not have it.
