On to my next project on the list.. My 52 Styleline has a 3 speed transmission that's leaking gear fluid badly. I ordered a new seal kit for it and will attempt to fix the leaks this weekend. Any tips or suggestions for removing the tranny? Other things I should look at doing while I have it out?

My son works at Autozone while going to college. He said they now have access to alot of antique auto parts that they didn't in the past. It only takes a day if you order in the store or 3 days if you order online. Stay away from the points though!! haha

I just bought the gasket kit, haven't even opened it to see what's in there yet. I'm enjoying having the garage unoccupied for a day or so to clean up before pulling the 52 back in there to get back on my to-do list.

Chipper, Have you seen a series of youtube videos by "restodan"? The truck in your pic reminds me of his dinosaur truck. He's in the Dallas area I think. He started out posting his experience buying and restoring a 63 Impala to sell for profit and has gone on to video other car projects and cool old car related stuff he runs across.

Don't do youtube, facebook, twitter or any other social sites except for ChatII where I already spend too much time.

got the transmission out yesterday, needs a very good degreasing before I attempt to re-seal it. might as well drop the oil pan and get that gasket too while I'm down there. good times :)

Good idea to remove the pan. When we started the 47 and ended up with water in the oil, I dropped the pan and it had gunk in it up to the oil pump screen. Gave it a good cleaning.

I don't spend much time on YOUTUBE either, but I have found several good videos when I have looked for advice on working on modern riding lawnmowers with B&S engines OHV engines and the Kawasaki liquid cooled 620 in my 3010 4x4 Mule.

If you find some good videos, as you are researching ones on Vintage Chevrolet restorations. try posting the URL to the video here. Up on the address line just select and copy the URL, then paste it into your ChatterII post, let us all benefit from them,
thanku
