Help! Can anyone tell/show me what a 34 master jack looks like? Even though my car was a 'one-owner', the only thing that came with it was a jack and handle, it looks like it maybe original, but I'm not sure. Whilst on this subject, I'd be keen to see pictures of a complete set of original tools. I am a keen collector of original Chevrolet items and accessories for this model and any help would be appreciated. Chris

Can"t get to my 34 jack at the present time But it is a tall screw jack, two screw sections if I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.iT IS PAINTED A MEDIUM GREEN COLOR.To raise the front wheels it is placed under the front frame crossmember so you can see why it is quite tall.I could send you a picture from a Chev. ad showing the jack but would have to mail it as I don"t have picture capabilitys on my Web TV set.

Chevgene Thanks for your answer, if I don't get any more replies I may take you up on your offer. The one that I have is double screw, medium green in colour, but has a little flip over cone shaped device that hangs from the side when used on the rear axle and is flipped over to sit on the top when used on the front, this allows it to be placed under the 2 jacking brackets (which are slightly hollow) that are attached to the front of the chassis rails by the bumper support bolts. Can you imagine jacking by the chassis until the knees travel to the bottom, about 17" I reckon. Makes the jack a bit wobbly. Do the Fisher bodied cars have this device attached to the front of the chasis? Chris

Drop an email to the VCCA Tool Rep Ray Lemaster at sportsedan@att.net he has a full list with illistrations for most of the early Chevy models. He has also put togather a book on early Chevy tools . I think it goes for about $10.00 and has tons of info.

chevgruoo, I have in my collection an after market tool that was used to limit the jack travel required to raise the old knee action (Dubounet) front wheels. It is a "J" shapped casting with a pivitol end bracket so that it can be used on both left and right sides. The opposite end has a adjustable threaded rod with hooked end and a large wing nut for adjustment. The item was called "NEELOK" for Chevrolet and Pontiac knee action vehicles. Manufactured by "The Brake Appliance Corp., Waukesha, Wisconsin" and sold under the "Red Arrow Garage Equipment' brand for $1.95. Just a little trivia.
I can see why some though such an item was needed. If you have ever jacked up an old Chevrolet using either the screw or ratchet style bumber jacks, they become pretty unstable when raised to a height needed to remove a tire/wheel assembly. You don't want mama climbing in or out of the vehicle while using one or have a semi truck pass by at 50 mph either.
