Newbie here. In Oct 2009 i bought a 29 Cabriolet. When depresing the clutch pedal there is a squeaking noise.Upon disassemble i found one spring clip that holds the bearing to the fork off. This may correct the noise. The throwout bearing has a oil cup on it. The repair manual says the bearing is a graphite compound and needs no lub and there are no openings in the bell housing to get to it without taking the transmision out. The parts book list a bearing with oiler.need help oil or no oil. Thanks

I don't think oil is necessary. I have never oiled a carbon throwout bearing. Is your bearing smooth and uniform in thickness? Same for the cast iron bearing sleeve? The bearing is easy to find on ebay and I may have an extra one somewhere. The sleeve may be a little more scarce. I am more familiar with the plate arrangement used in 1932 and later.

Thanks Mike. I did not want to put oil in it for fear it would get on the clutch plate. The bearing and sleeve are good and the bearing looks new as does the clutch disc and plate.I think the clip that holds the bearing to the fork was off is why it was noisy. Thanks Bob
