I have a fellow member who wants to use my pan aiming tool. My question is: are all pan aiming tools the same. My friend has a '52 powerglide 235 with the original engine. I don't see any numbers on the big tool but on the small tool to bend the oil pipes the number is J 793-2. I used the big tool on my '48 216 and it worked fine....

the 52 235ci should be a high pressure, insert bearing engine. No need for aiming tool.

I am not trying to rain on anyones parade, but according to all that I have read on this subject in various forums, the 1950, 1951, and 1952 engines with the P/G behind it were the 235 engines with babbitt bottom ends. The first year for the insert eng was 1953 with the P/G behind it. If I remember correctly, Canadian 1953 stick shift engs had insert bottom end also.

Am sure that someone more knowledgeable on this matter will chime in and correct me as needed.

Best to you.

Jim.
