Well I have fussed with the hood poping up for the last time this fall and now have the hood hinges off the lower supports, the hinge bolts loose 2 on each on and Green tape on the paint. I have a support set up for the hood to hold it in the air as most of my work is alone. I need to get the passenger side to go over about an inch as this would make a nice alignment. I may need to move the front end but not sure next step maybe some photos uploaded may help. any advice as I have been putting this off for this reason

Chuck, the 1" distance you want it to go is hard to envision -- seems like an awfully large move for alignment tweeking. Which direction are you intending to move? Also, won't driver's side also move same amount? What is status of driver's side now? Maybe you can post a sketch or photo explaining further.

Are you, perhaps, measuring at the front of the car, with the nose of hood moving 1", causing forward (or backward) movement at hinge?

Just for fun why don't you measure the distance from one of the henge screw holes to, for example the front center of the hood opening, and then do the same on the other side back to the location you used on the first measurment. Theoretically, the distance should be the same.

Do some serious looking at the assembly of the grill. Does it appear to lean to one side or the other. Any other observations that don't check out.

Ill check these and I will take a few photos. hope I can upload them. Seems the drivers side is about OK were it is. the pass side seems to need to go back and down. when I got the car it was like this and I saw were the hood must of poped ? as there were dents in the upper cowl area. o Maybe I need to adjust more than I see. I should of dry fitted the hood before the paint and reassembly a few years ago but Live and learn I guess If I were not so fussy It would be OK. Ill be back later today with more info. Going to be a cold weekend so not sure how many service calls Ill have LOL

up date. I went up and checked and checked the gap on the drivers side is less than 3/8 of an inch. the passenger side is about 15/32 ( I used drill bits to fit between hood and cowl] so I also noticed the pass side by grill is about 7/16 over hang but only at that location. the grill and everything seem fine ?? Im not sure the next move but and willing to try anything. maybe the hinges do not have much adjusting as I would like but up and down and a little in and out I need to do more I would think !! thanks again for any advice. I will post some photos if I can upload.

I may have to settle for the out of alignment. seems no matter what I try what I had is as good as what I can afford to do. no one ever noticed it but ME so Ill fuss with it a little more maybe Ill re drill the holes for the hinge as I have a spare I got when I tried to Aline it a while ago. if any more suggestions please let me know.
