I have the 1933 Master Eagle Sedan which belonged to my Grandmother, Mother, and Older Brother before me. Each passing of the title was accompanied by a guilt laden remonstration to take good care of the family car. The car became a tad rundown during forty years of storage under my brothers custody. No doubt he got an earful from Grandma where ever they met up. It now falls to me to restore this car. It is copmplete with some extra parts and manuals collected by the previous custodian. I'm looking for advice on the do's and don'ts of a restoration project on this vintage car. I would like to hear from others who have don or are working on this vintage car.

Hi Brotherskeeper,

Let's nitpick a bit first. Either you have an Eagle or you have a Master. (Watch the worms come out of the woodwork on this one) laugh The first 3 months of production it was an Eagle, when the Standard came out it was then called the Master. Need to look at some dates on the car (engine, head, thansmission) to see what it really is.

Now to address your real concern. Purchase a 'copy' of the Owner's Manual and Repair Manual. Some working copies of brochures would be helpful also. Find a correctly RESTORED car like yours, even if you have to do some travelling, and go look it over. Purchase a digital camera, the prices are very reasonable now, and document the car you are viewing. When you start the restoration on your car document every step with the camera. Purchase some zip-lock bags to put the small parts in AND LABEL each and every one. When you have accomplished these steps you can return to this forum for additional guidance. devil Agrin

You can also tell if it is an Eagle or Master by the wing windows. The Eagle had wing windows that rolled up and down. :( The Master had wing windows that pivoted in and out. :)

Thanks for the response AntiqueMechanic and Chevy Chip. The car is presently stored in Ohio; hence I can't check the #'s right now. I hope to move it here very soon. The vin # on the paper work is 2CA08879880. I have not found a website that can decode this age vin #. Any suggestions?

ChevyChip, as I recall it does have pivot type wing windows. Also. It has spare tires in both the front fenders. I have seen mention of 6 wheel Masters. On the rear there is a fold up luguage rack or trunk platform.

2CA08 indicates 1933 Master assembled at Tarrytown NY in August 1933, the remaining part of the number 879880 has one too many digits.

From the decoding of the numbers by d2d2 you now know that you have a Master, and common slang for the vehicle is a "6 wheel sedan".

It's interesting that so many of the Chevy reference books use the term Master Eagle so loosely when refering to this model car. I'll try to clean up my usage of the terms.

Thanks for the info. on the vin. Etc. I'll check the #'s as soon as I get the car here.

Brotherskeeper :)
