Does anybody know what the CFM of a 1928 chevy RAKX-O carburetor is??? I looked in the repair manual and in the detailed specs manual and found that it's not listed in either manuals.

I don't know what the CFM rating for the RAKX-O carb is but a Four cylinder is around 170 CI? if so at 3500 RPM it should require around 200 CFM or less.

I guess that means you won't need a 200CFM carb?

Several years ago my buddy and I decided to "soup up" a Model T F**d. We had no money to buy fancy speed equipment but my friend is a capable amateur machinist. We installed a Model A crankshaft and a OHC cylinder head from a 2300 F**d Pinto. A pair of webers from a Fiat Spyder provided the fuel. We static balanced the moving parts and it ran with no noticeable vibration. I once saw 4000 RPM on the tach. Hmmm. If a 4 cylinder Chevy head makes a Model T go fast and a Pinto head makes a Model T go faster, would a Pinto head make a 4 cylinder Chevy go.....

Does anyone know the float setting for this carb? Can anyone show a picture of what the needle looks like? Mine seems rounded off, should it be pointed?
Thanks.

The float is set at 31/64" The needle can be rounded if it is in a seat with the larger center hole. There are several needle/seat combinations that will fit. As long as it seats the needle will be fine.

If the fuel bowl fills so full that it pours over the top and seeps through the gasket and/or fills the intake air tube, I can assume that it is not seating, correct? Could this cause it to not start?
Sorry to the original poster for hijacking the thread! I will creep back into the shadows and watch silently again now...

That may be your problem or the float is sinking (leaking), the seat is loose, gasket bad or electric fuel pump with too much pressure or ?
