I bought a 24' enclosed trailer just over a year ago.

I have been looking for the ideal floor covering since my '23 was made to leak oil. I was going to use the garage floor paint, but I have the treated floor. My paint supplier warned me that the garage floor paint will pop off eventually due to the chemical gassing in the treated wood.

Needless to say, I have covered the floor with cardboard and use visqueen under the car during winter storage for now.

Any suggestions on the best flooring?

Chris,

I installed drip pans to the flooring of my trailer. Auto Zone had 24" by 36" units for around $8 each. I secured them to the floor using 3/4" electrical conduit wall clamps, one at each corner. They are easy to remove and reinstall and can be easily wiped up when needed.

Those four bangers will always be leakers.

I would still paint the trailer flooring. I used battleship gray deck paint which has stayed in place for a few years without any problems. Can be a little slippery when wet though.

I have a 20 ft enclosed trailer also. The floor is plywood and painted. I installed aluminum runners about 12 inches wide from the start on the ramp all the way to about 2 ft from the front wall.

Like oldie, I also installed two of the oil drip trays and secured them to the floor. Only takes a few minutes to wipe the trays clean.

The aluminum runners serve a second purpose. I use them to center my car in the trailer.

The door opening is 6 1/2'. I ordered it with an extra 6" in order to haul the 25 Roadster without putting the top down. The inside height to the peak of the curved top is 7'.

There is alway the option of using a transparent deck stain. It will be a great water ( oil )sealer. If you use the oil drip pan idea, Dawn dish soap is excellent from cleaning them.

Good information. Thank you all.
I had thought about the runners like antique mechanic. Then I had the bright idea of adding a section of smooth aluminum under the center of the car to maks clean up easier (in addition to the drip pan). Then it grew to covering the entire floor, which also grew the price - which is why I still have cardboard.
Hopefully, I will do something this spring...

FYI - I used a friends trailer once a few years ago. He had also used the blck and white peel and stick tiles but the tiles popping off with the hot and cold cycles and flexing of the trailer.

I also made a plywood cover to cover the tongue and sides of te wheels/tires. The tongue cover is to help the looks from the sun and rain. The tire covers are to hopefully help the tires last longer since it just sits most of the time.

A non slip floor coating is a heavy wet coat of paint with sugar or very fine sand sprinkled over it then a second light coat of paint. It should work with the heavy types of paint as well.
