I am going to go pick up my new 21 490 with 15k miles in a couple days. One question is which way the spark lever goes to retard? Also is there a gas shut off in the fuel line? Dont want a fuel spill while on the trailer from the needle valve bouncing and dumping out the carb. The folks I am getting it from really don't know much about it. Her Dad did but he passed a few years ago.

Bob,

Move the spark lever up (or Forward) to retard the spark. There should be a gas shut-off valve at the bottom of the fuel tank. Looks like a fun project.

Enjoy,
Gary

Bob - Is this the same car as shown in your photos? Always great to get another 490 on the road.

Nope! This one I am going to pick up is a 15K miler. The one in the pics is a 10K miler. I have only seen a hand full of pics of my car, but I liked what I saw!
