since the trucks and commercial vehicles etc have their own seperate forums, would it be possible and would it be beneficial to chatter to have a seperate forum for the Corvettes? regards and merry christmas. mike mccagh

I think Mike is on to something with his suggestion to have a separate forum just for Corvettes. I'm sure there are many "just Corvettes" websites out there, but Corvettes are Chevrolets aren't they?? A separate forum just for them very well might draw in a few more folks to Chevy Chatter and ultimately to become VCCA members. Couldn't hurt to try it for a while if we have the room to do it.

As a former owner of a '62 fuel injected and '66 and '78 coupes I would be interested in a Corvette forum. I may never be able to afford one again, but I am always interested in hearing about them.

Man-oh-man, I definitely "second" the idea of a Corvette forum here in Chat. I doubt I'd be able to contribute much technically; but I'm a real Entusiast. I was fortunate enough to have several of them in my younger days. And I'd definitely enjoy a Corvette forum here in Chat.
iagree
PS: Actually it appears in only eight hours I'm "fourth" in support of the idea.

I'm onboard seeing as I still have my 67. We've owned it since 1972 when she said "No Corvette"! LOL. (Yes, we're still married.). I have two 31's, an 86 and a 72. Love my Chevies!

Well, there's nothing stopping us from adding another forum for Corvettes only. This kind of "segregation" was discussed in the very early days of the forum.

Here's a quick overview as best as I can remember.

One idea was to create a forum for Corvettes.... and Camaros, and Impalas, and Chevettes, and Silverados, and .... etc etc.

A counter-discussion was that by NOT segregating by body styles, that the fundamental engineering and technical features are sometimes applicable to MULTIPLE model types. After all, a 327 is a 327 regardless of which body style it is installed in. So, by keeping the high-level grouping by years, then people could focus, and SHARE the technical information which might be applicable to MULTIPLE body styles.

I'm not saying that can't modify the structure, or add a Corvettes ONLY forum -- just pointing out what the original philosophy was 9 years and 3 days ago.

What do you all think? If we create a Corvette one, then does that open the door for other speciality forums? Eg. Camaro, Vega, Corvair...

.....how about Aveo and Volt and Cruze.

Nah, Corvettes are special breed......they need their own forum ok might lead to another non-geographical chapter.

if a seperate corvette forum is established, i would predict an increase membership for vcca, in that we have a classified section which is lacking in the NCRS technical discussion board. buying and selling parts, whether corvette, belair, silverado or volt, is the only way to acquire or dispose of parts or cars. i believe NCRS will eventually add a classified forum to their chat site. we're ahead of them in that respect.mike

I applaud to a special Corvette forum. Even if we may find a lot of the general discussion, technical questions and other tips useful, there are specialities which will belong to one certain type. I have seen the growing interest and performance of the 490s after we got our own space here.

So go on, BBB and do it again! When other special sub brands come and ask, let's invite them too. Scrolling down a little more is not a problem when we have the same branded cars.

Wishing all VCCA members and user a Merry Christmas and let's meet in Flint next year! 2011: What a year for all of us!

I'm dreaming of a ...... Chevrolet ride or two in Flint!

I say go for a Corvettes only Forum. I agree with Mike that it will draw more people to this site and that's more potential for more VCCA members. Bring 'em on......let's do it!!!

Hey, if it doesn't work, hit the DELETE button.

.........and Mike, whether you get a Corvette Forum or not, why not start a Corvette Non Geographical Region???? Just in this thread it looks like there should be enough interest to support a Chapter.
