Did my first long trip today (135 miles) since fitting Autolite 3077 plugs. Engine pulls better on hills and accelerates on hills. Running plugs at 30 thou gap.
A vast improvement over the Autolite 3076, Champion W14

Ray yes, 3077's are the best. Mine is undercover right now the only thing I get to tinker with is my antique 1973 Wheel Horse C-141 with snow plow. Just got a snow cab for it NOS lucky me! You guys down under probably dont know about those Wheel Horse tractors made in Indiana. It has a 14 horse Kohler with automatic and can do wheelies, plow snow, also grass and snow blower attachment and roto tiller, also has hitch for spotting trailers. There are large antique Wheel Horse tractor clubs with rat rod tractors and they have tractor pull contests. Happy Holidays to you and your family Ray, and your 28 also. Hey all you guys down under are the best!!!!!! Ken from Chicago

Ray, you are so lucky to be able to drive year round. Mine too is in storage (off site this year). I miss her dearly.
It's not how fast you can go, but how good you look at 20 MPH.

You guys don't need to live in the frozen North. Though it may get cold (40 degrees or lower) here it rarely gets to freezing and most days are nice enough to drive or play golf. We get plenty of snow birds or "Winter Texans" each fall. Even the geese think that Texas is the place to winter and they aren't the smartest of all animals. No offense meant or implied for those that enjoy snow and cold weather activities.

Thanks for the comments Guys, and seasons greetings to all.
Ken I think there may be a bit of a vintage hot rodder in your blood, but at least you enjoy clearing the snow.
Shawn I can not imagine not being able to drive because of a snow season. Out here we complain about either the heat or the rain.
Chipper sounds like the climate in Texas may be like OZ
Take care
Regards
Ray

Here in Indiana it is snowing all day and more tomorrow. I was thinkng about getting the 28 out for a snow run. Of course on unsalted backroads. I will start it up in the next few days when it gets down to 6 degrees and see how it starts with those nice plugs. a couple old T shirts make a decent winterfront for the radiator. Might just take it for a drive then while it is warmed up.

Hi Bob,
Now there is a dedicated Chev man, making plans for a snow run
Does your car have a heater, and if so did they work?
Good luck.
Regards
Ray

-20 this morning with no wind so not too bad. Would make more sence to start the snowmobile instead of the '31.
I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.

Well Ray, I took the 28 out tonight in 6 degrees F. I started it earlier today in 13 degrees and found out I had forgot to turn the fuel off last month so the vac tank was empty. Had to prime it. Once primed it fired right up so I let it warm up good and took it down the road. Sure doesn't like to shift gears in this weather and it slows down good without the brakes also because of the heavy oil in the rear end.By the way, my car does not have a heater but did pick up a bit of heat through the floor boards. My dog enjoyed the ride and didn't want to get out. Dads 28 coupe has a heater and it does work well, so good infact it will roast you out and have to roll down windows. The rear tires did ok but spun on take off, a set of tire chains and it would go through a lot of snow. We only got about 2 inches but the wind blew about 40 mph last night and drifted it 2 feet deep in places. It had rained right before the snow fell, there is ice under the snow so it is good and slick out. Now I know what people did in the winter back in the day, stayed home! Just kidding, it was a fun experience and tomorrow morning it is going to 0 deg F so I will try starting again now that the vac tank is filled. Also saw 3 shooting stars in 1 minute while I was out on this crystal clear but freezing night, kind of added a magical touch.

Bravo Bob,
Along the lines of the USPS
Niether rain, hail, sleth, snow, ice and bloody cold temperatures will stop Bob Kerr in his mission to keep enjoying and driving his Chev year round.
Were they shooting stars you saw of frozen tears sliding across your eye ball
Just think how much more fun you will have in summer.
Regards
Ray
PS. Its a mild 80 degrees here at the moment

Hehehehe! Have to get the full experiance of the seasons in the old car. I think I may be more nuts than the USPS. My Girlfriends daughter asked her mom if I was coming over last night. My GF said I was going to drive the 28 and the girl said " Is he that nuts" and was cracking up. About that time I pulled up. She got her answer! My GF said 80 deg! when are we going down there! I do think I will drive the ol lass up to Flint MI and do the three events. The tour in Houghton Lake, the Central Region meet in Dundee and the Cenntenial meet in Flint. In a modern car it is 7-8 hours one way from me. Long way in ol rattle trap.

While we're talking about spark plugs, how would you clean up the spark plug threads in a spare head? It's hard to figure out the thread size or to find a thread chaser.
Your thoughts?
thanks, Dean

Chevrolet heads used 7/8" or 18mm or 14mm or 10mm spark plugs. Thread chasers are readily available for the last three. Never looked for the 7/8" yet.

Thanks, Chip.
I have a spare '28 head that uses the 7/8" plugs. How many threads per inch for these plug holes?
I compared a 7/8x14 bolt to the threads on an old spark plug and the two did not match.

I'll have to measure it with a thread gauge tomorrow unless someone else knows the tpi.

As Jack mentioned
7/8" spark plugs are 18 tpi NF threads
I bought a plug tap that size, worked perfectly.
