I wonder why no one has started reproducing the following accessory items:

1940/41 turn signal knobs
1941 Tailpipe extensions (ugly as they are)
1941 reel antennas
1941 Umbrellas

I realize the cost may be prohibitive on some of the above but turn signal knobs? Shouldn't be that expensive. I'll take several.

The turn signal knobs are made in small numbers by a fellow here in So. California, exhaust tips have been made a few times by different people over the years, and are being made again as we speek. I don't think there is enough demand for the other two on your list'

Mike,
Good luck on finding that fender guide. What year is it for?

Can you put me on the trail of the guy who makes the turn signal knobs and exhaust tips?

Thanks,
Charlie

Just curious, what is your reference that the fender guide pictured is 1941?

Ed, the reason it didn't work for him is you put too many "a"s in it the first time. I get "fat finger" syndrome myself all too often. laugh

It is illustrated in my 1941 Chevrolet pass car data book, as well as advertised in the Chevrolet News Magazine from that period.

The fender marker is also correct for 1942 very rare part
in my opinion it's one of the rarest accessories.

Just how much is a 1939 Chevrolet an odd ball. That is, how much does it stand alone for unique features? Can't be anything that is shared with another year. I'll start it off:

Hubcaps

Can you add anything else?
Good luck,
Charlie

BTW: I bet some of you can came them all, if so, please let the others have a chance. That means P.K., Brewster, Mark, Gene, Any Mike, Misters, and Uncles and the usual bunch (you know who you are) should only name one feature at a time and then only after a few minutes of contiplation so that you come up with something that is not real obvious. As in "hubcaps."

1939 a one year odd ball;
The rear bumper is the same as a 1938. The front bumper is almost the same except it has more of a bow. The guards are the same.
General body hardware is the same. Door locks, window regulators, etc. but no sheet metal is the same.
rear springs 1939 only and front suspension, leaf or independent different.
Trans, and diff. about the same.
Engine had a few "tweeks".
The body was a heavily facelifted 1938.
Wheels same as 1937-38.
Brakes about the same.

Gene,
Wasn't the vacuum shifter unique to the 1939?

Hot one part of the 1939 vacuum shift was the same as a 1940-1948.
The 1939 used a top cover transmission (with column shift) and the 1940 was a side shifter.
The 1939 parking brake lever fit up to 1948.
The later panel trucks used the 1939 tail lights with "improved" lucite lenses.
