What should the front to back (horizontal) crankshaft
clearance be for a 194?

The factory center main end play should be 0.004" to 0.006". It is okay up to about 0.010" before something should be done.

Chipper,
Thanks for the reply. I have the pan off for some other work (rod bearings) and decided to check the end play. It's a loose .010 and a tight .011 so since the engine isn't coming out, that will due for now.

Thangs again.

I have a '28 engine that you can watch the front crankshaft pulley move forward and aft when accelerating and decelerating. Makes noise but still running.
