What is the difference between 49-50 hub cast # 3687631 and 51-54 hub cast # 3694757, it looks like they both take the same bearings. I want to put the later bendix brake design on my 1950 Chevrolet.

The difference is the 1949-50 hub is designed for Huck type brakes and brake drums.
The 1951-1954 hub is designed for the Bexdix brakes.
The width and the center opening are two main differences. The later drum has a larger opening for the hub.

The hubs from '51 - '54 cars will bolt right up to the suspension of your '50. I helped a fellow club member restore a '50 2dr hardtop. We learned if you get all the brake parts and spacers/backing plates from the later cars you can use the later hubs. To get Bendix brakes on the rear wheels we used a complete torque tube rear end from a '54 stick shift car. It had 3.70 gears. Probably in your area you can find a complete front end suspension that came off a modified car.
