Cheap black paint on the bed wood. Black baked enamel on the rub rails. Most likely applied by dipping.

Gloss - and if I remember correctly the wood and metal strips were painted after they were assembled as the bolts, etc. were all painted the same "texture" with no tool marks.

Originally the carriage bolts were splined and pressed into the bed strips. The floor must have been installed as an assembly after receiving the paint finish. The inner fleetside box fenders are main body color.

Would texture be a reference to a roller/ paint brush type finish or a spray application?

It was sprayed on....and not the best workmanship.
When the truck was delivered to the dealer usually the wood part was covered with a heavy paper. The paper must have been applied before the wood area (floor) was installed into the box because the edges of the paper were between the floor and the sides of the box.

Similar to a kraft paper or waxed paper? Was there any Chevrolet logo on the paper? Was the underneath painted black as well? Were the cross bars painted black? Sorry for asking so many questions, find this all fascinating! Didn't know about the black painted inset on the headlight rings till this year. Really appreciate all the info.

More like a heavy kraft paper.
The underside was black also including cross bars. The under side wood was not as glossy. Looked more like a thinner paint that soaked into the wood making it more dull.
