Sounds like about a $500.00 car. Make an offer that you can live with and one that you will leave you thinking you got a good deal.

Is it what you want or will you still be looking. If the latter, just pass on it. Just my advice.

I don't know what it is worth but if I were you, I would offer what it is worth to me and throw the ball in his court.

Albert,

The $500 amount noted previously may sound like a foolish offer to make to someone, but you should consider what you will have to do to the car to make it the way you want it.

The money will add up real fast. I did all the work on my car, so there was hardly any cost for labor.

Just a few items that you should check. Things like the suspension, is it a Master Deluxe? If so, the front knees will likely need rebuilding ($900 plus shipping.) New door/window seals (if not already replaced - $600.) Brakes, brake lines, king pins, wheel bearings/seals, engine rebuilding, chrome parts, upholstery, lights/lenses, mats & running boards, tires, paint, etc. These are just some of the major items.

I bought a car in very good physical condition, it had a frame off body restoration, all new chrome, new wiring harness, new upholstery kit all for $6,000, then I stuck another $9,000 into the car and I am close, but not quite done. I don't know if you can actually get "DONE."

You may also want to do some upgrades. I installed sound deadening and thermal insulation in my car, also seat belts, radial tires and a few other minor items.

So, look hard at the car, make an estimate of what you will spend then add in another 50%.

I enjoyed my project and I drive my car a lot, in the range of 100 miles a week. So, for me, it was certainly worth it. Is the car worth what I spent? I don't think so, but then, it is not for sale.

It's so difficult to place a value on anything without actually seeing it and listening to it. Also values vary according to location. A $10,000 car in California is a $2000 car in Kansas. My vision of your description would put a value in Kansas of anywhere between $2K & $10K depending on the actual condition of the car.

I'd guess from $4k to $8k. When you say running, does that mean driveable? The enclosed driveline is a deal breaker for me. Is it leaking and everything needs attention or in pretty good shape. It's hard to get someone to repair them. Another thing..the Deluxe is a better car, might be worth paying a little more for that. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong.

Albert, you could get a copy of "OLD CARS" price guild, they have a price scale in there of 1-5 on most makes, that might help or just make him an offer off the top of your head and go from there. Hope this helps.
