Hello,
I am building a 27 chev truck. It is fitted with the steel runningboards with the diamond pressing. Is there a spacer that fits underneath the runningboard where the 3 brackets/supports are,and held with 2 bolts in each of the 3 brackets?Or is there a timber support that fits the full length under the steel runningboard?
My 27 car runningboards had a folded steel bracket that was welded underneath the runningboard and the bolts were concealed but the truck is different and if there is no spacer the runningboard will be distorted when the cuphead bolts are tightened.
Also,It is fitted with the 25/6 front mudguards. There appears to be a 1/2 inch difference in the height of the inner splash section that bolts to the chassis and is fixed to the mudguard top curved section. The mounting bracket that holds the guard on as well as the headlight bar also is different in height (1/2 inch).
Did the trucks (25/6 mudguards fitted) have the different front mudguards to the cars (25/6)or was there a suttle change in the production at some stage.
You can not realy tell the guards apart untill you try to bolt them on with the wrong brackets. The only real difference is in the pressing up the front of the guard which has been made different to allow clearance for the front chassis rivets.
