chevyGuess I'm confused. Wiring the gauge, instructions say tank wire to driver's side. However on the the passenger side of the gauge is a red tag that says not to attach hot wire to it.
Has this been reversed by someone in the last 70 years? Possibility maybe. Should I attach hot to the passenger side or not? Much obliged to all the help I see posted

My wiring diagram shows that the hot wire attaches to the driver's side of the gauge and the sending unit wire attaches to the passenger side of the gauge. That matches the fact that the red tag on the passenger side of your gauge says not to attach a hot wire on that terminal.

Thank you so much for your reply and cure. I suspected it, but the directions in the wiring kit said the opposite which, as you helped out, straightened me out.
Thanks again
