Yes the GTO developed by DeLorean during the muscle era will be missed. The last Pontiac was built about a year ago, but the offical agreements GM had with Pontiac dealers ended Sunday. According to sources approximately 40 million Pontiac's were built.

As I recall, somewhere in the 60's Pontiac became the Number 3 "Best Seller." In other words passed Plymouth into the #3 spot. Seems like a damn shame to know the "goat herd" is now an orphan club. It's definitely a different world these days.....

My father worked for a Pontiac dealership during the 50's and 60's. After I blew the engine in my Corvair, it was my first ride, my dad brought home a traded in 65 GTO for me to try out. It was forest green with a black interior and red stripe firestone wide ovals. I took off the hubcaps and was the envy of all my buds. We took the "goat" everywere. I remember one time at the route 3 drive-in, (now Giants stadium) two buddies hid in the trunk so as not to pay. Well while backing into a spot I tore off the right side muffler. The Movie (Night of the living dead) was just getting started. The staff (and paying customers) were not happy and kicked us out! Those Pontiacs were all so low to the ground.
