I am having trouble trying to figure out what color to paint my car .I have 1 rim and a piece of metal from above the door that still have paint on them. The rim and the body metal are very close to the same color.I would like to match paint to that color.I am not sure but I think it is blue. The guy at the body shop thinks it is green.Does any one have a color chart that they can put on here. Or can some one tell me how to put a picture on here. I could take a picture of my parts and put them on here if I knew how. I really do apreciate all the help from every one Thanks.

big D, what body style is your '29?

If you have old Chevrolets, other old Chevrolets will find out where you live.

I also found a small piece of cloth behind one of the door handles. It looks like dark green.

There are three color combinations for US built 1929 Sedans. If Canadian built the colors may or may not be the same as the US.
First is:
Huntington Green - Upper (raised), Center, Lower Body; Hood; Ins. Panel depression; Sunshade panel
Como Green - Upper (depressed) body; mouldings; disc wheels; Inst. panel;
Oak Green - Garnish moulding; Robe rail
Odyssey Ivory - Stripes

Second is the same as above but Tusk Ivory Stripes.

Third is:
Tuna Blue in places of Huntington Green
Top Gallant Blue in place of Como Green
And Oak Green and Tusk Ivory the same.

Hope this helps.

I previously found a chevrolet color schedule at autocolorlibrary.com for this year.By process of elimination I figured it had to be one of these two colors. I was just hoping to see a color chip to verify what color it is.

sounds like my car, I found the best sample of the dark paint was inside the door moldings around the windows.they painted the inside a out. dizler paints made the original paint which is now PPG they have the original paint chips but cannot formulate it to the new computor equipment. So I just been picking modern paint chips and trying to paint parts and compare to the old. Good Luck

Great, I'll be waiting to hear from you. I want to warn you the matches I have are for U.S. car only. When Dad was researching the information he wasn't able to obtain any information on Canadian made cars.

If you are interested I have the description of the Duco colors for the American models. It shows 11 color schemes dated June 1929. According to that service bulletin it says that in certain months they actually would rotate color schemes three times. It sounds strange and it is hard for mke to describe in writing. My coupe was made in the first part of June and is a Lush Green body with Zanzibar Green body belt and Tusk Ivory body stripe. It has been over painted with a brush light blue. I have found some of the original paint on the body and disc wheels and think they are both very nice colors. There is also a web site that lists colors for some of these models but it uses different names which possibly correspond to different colors.

I can e-mail you the pages of the technical data bulletins about paint colors for 1929. It does not have actual mixtures of the paint colors like todays, but it gives examples of the different combinations that were used. One of Chevrolets BIG selling features were the beautiful colors available and a little better eye pleasing body design. They sold a million cars in 1929 and I figure there is less than 10,000 of them left, half of which may be original/restored. I will have to disassemble the entire book and scan the pages. I won't be able to get to it for a few days so bear with me. You were right the web site I visited is Auto color library.

Thanks, beachbum. You don't have to do that.I will take a picture of my rim and part that still have paint on them, and get them colour matched with a computer. I could also put the picture on here, then mabey some one can tell me if they are blue or green. thanks again.
