Can someone provide me a picture of the cable connections to the carb and distributor --from the dash.

Also how can I repair a broken temperature line that is broken right at the gauge. Do I replace the line? How do I connect to the gauge?
Thank you for your help

When asking questions always include the year of the vehicle so that you will get the correct answer for your application.

Repairing the capillary tube on a temperature gauge requires an expert and it usually cannot be done in your home workshop. To get yours repaired with a new tube you can contact the "Temperature Gauge Guy" and he will be able to repair the gauge for you. His phone number is: (802) 862-6374.

About the cables: Do you mean the choke, gas, and spark knob cables? Which end of them are you unsure of: Dash end or engine end? What year car are you working on?

Sorry, I have a 1932 coupe.
I am trying to attach to the engine/carb---including the free wheel unit.

I'll have to pass on this one. I only know the '29-'31 arrangement which is an updraft carb and no free wheeling. I'm sure others will hop in on the question........

All the Best,

The throttle, choke & heat cables, heat gauge tubing and oil gauge line all go through the center slot. The throttle cable goes through a bracket (held by two nuts on the firewall side of the manifold) and attaches to a swivel on an arm on the bellcrank on the side of the block. The heat cable goes through the other end of the same bracket and to a swivel on the heat valve arm. The choke cable goes through a bracket on the carburetor (attached by a screw holding the air horn to the cast iron body) to a swivel on the choke arm. The spark cable goes next to the electrolock cable, through a bracket on the block and to a swivel on the distributor mounting plate. The freewheeling cable goes from the dash down to a bracket on the side of the transmission and to the freewheeling arm. Most people don't connect the cable end or if they do block the freewheeling arm from moving.

The Filling Station now sells a new temp. gauge for around $80 for 31-32. Don't think you can get yours fixed for less.
