1971 Monte Carlo. The drivers door will not open from the outside or the inside.
Something in the unlatching mechanism has apparently fallen off. The problem for me is, I have to get it open to get the door panel off. Any one have any ideas?

When we would get a customers car in with that kind of problem you try with the window down and use wooden wedges to hold the window to one side, then you may be able to unlatch it with a long screwdriver or hooked tool. Many times you have to remove the door panel with the door shut, not fun but possible.

OK! I went out early this morning prepared to do battle with this door. I pushed the the button, knowing it would not open. But, to my amazement the door opened. I removed the inner panel, cleaned the mechanism and lubed it and life is good again.
