The rest of the story on Bev's car is that the overhaul folks found a crack in the head in the area behind an intake valve.

They have been some time trying to find a head for us. It is apparently a sort of "rare" item. They just reported to Mark, our mechanic, that the fourth one they recently found is cracked just like the other three they located.

Mark asked us to help try to find a head for Bev's 1952 Styline Deluxe 4 door sedan with Powerglide Transmission. It has the stock 1952 235 engine.

According to Mark that head was only made for 1951 and 1952 235 engines. It has only 15 head bolts. Chev changed head design in 1953 to one that has 16 head bolts and used that design for many years (into the 1960's).

Question to those who know about this stuff...is this true or not????

Any leads on a replacement head for Bev's "Bluebird" would be greatly appreciated.

Bob D.

The head fits 1950-1952 Chevrolet cars with 235 engine (all Power Glides) and all 1950-1952 large trucks as they had the same 235 engine.
The head casting number will be 3935499 or 3835909. The head uses 15 bolts where as the 1953 and up head has 18.

The estimate now is that the head will be here next Wed. and Mark will have car ready to roll by next Friday.

Thank you chevgene (Chev Nut) for your info even tho I will not have to use it. Thanks to anyone else that took time to look stuff up.
