I was pondering...i know we have a little chat board here and an instant post "Spark gap" chatter but what about an actual LIVE to the second, chevy Chatroom were at certain times of the evening some of us can enter that chat and get better aquainted and just shoot the breeze in the off season? I know...Thats what the shows are for...right?

Well, it was just a thought becouse guys like me dont get out much (even if i wanted too)

Several of us have asked about a "Live Chatroom". We had one over at the old Classiccar site where a version of VCCA chat once lived, as a step-child to the old Classiccar site. We had around 50 or 60 regulars and often we would have 8 or 10 join in for a chat session. It really is a good venue for folks that enjoy to chew the fat about our old Chevrolets, we could post pictures (it was kind of an involved process, posting pics.) I am sure that if it ever happens here that it will be restricted to VCCA members only, maybe not, I would like to encourage anyone on ChatterII to join VCCA, and support the cause.

MrMack, I quit VCCA after being a member for over 40 years because the G & D became, from the standpoint of sharing hard core technical information, a dead zone. This forum is at the other extreme, full of very interesting technical chatter, as are Stovebolt.com,1936 Chevy Owners, Chevytalk and countless others.

So guys who want the technical side of the hobby rather than the "events" have access to a multitude of free forums.

Yep, thangs are a'changing...many due to the internet and computers, blackberries, and technology in general....

A lot of VCCA folks (those without computers or those against the Cyberworld) believe that those of us that enjoy Chatting and helping anyone that signs up to Chatter II without being a dues paying VCCA dues are wasteing the clubs money!

It doesn't surprise me that some of the Vintage Chevrolet folks had to be drug into the 21st century screaming and kicking...after all many of us like our Chevrolets "Old Timey" and original!!!!

This posting reminds me of some of the things we had in mind for the Chat Group Non-Geographical Region. While forming the Chat Group a few of us invisioned our little group meeting here for just that sort of get together. The closest we got to a "live" chat was during our meetings.

I would hope that any live chat here would be a feature hosted by the Chat Group since our little Group was formed by a few of the frequent, and most active VCCA members on line here at ChatterII. Times have changed a little, like mentioned, but a "live chat" would certainly give the Chat Group Non-Geographic guys a much needed wake up call.

"Take it", but don't leave it...

How about it Billy BaRRker, are there any plans in the future for VCCAchat having a live realtime chat page for VCCA members or the NG chapter?, other than Spark Gap? or maybe having a seperate page for an expanded Spark Gap?

stressed The last time that I thought about that was about two years ago!! nanana ha ha

The list of areas that we thought were good to be worked (off the top of my head) were:

computer
NOW COMPLETED
  • Allow members to see their own Membership data online
  • Upgrade the VCCA.org website
  • Allow members to renwew their membership online
  • Automate the Regional information listings
  • Combine the passwords for the G&D and Membership areas
  • Identify who the VCCA members are in Chat
  • Upgrade the hosting service to stop annoying errors
  • Add more Technical data to the Members Area

The other items just started, or still on the list are:

PENDING
  • Build an online Registration Form for the FLint 2011 Meet
  • Incorporate the Touring Database into the Membership DB
  • Allow NEW members to register, and pay Online
  • Incorporate the Judging Database in with the Membership DB
  • Build an online CHAT feature

And, I probably forgot a few. hood

You have been busy the last few years and I for 1 appreciate what you do.

There is still a rather lengthy list in the to do section but I have no doubt some have already been allowed for but at this stage left invisible until completed, wise move.

My son has been doing a course that involves web page construction so I have seen some of what is involved.

Not sure I get it brino!

I mean you got-a-right to do what ever, but if VCCA is a "dead zone" for tech. info, why not remain a member and share what you know with others members. That's a rhetorical question.

But it seems like you an excellent opportunity to share what you know, technically speaking. I mean your on the chat site sharing stuff, why not share the tech. stuff.

Maybe you could write articles for G&D, from exclusively the technical side of Chevrolet's. Chevgene, Ray, Chipper, Mac, just to mention a few, are very technical and knowledgeable. And they share all the time.

Well once more, brino, all respect intended, I don't understand. But you gotta right.

Enjoy the ride,

Is'nt the G&D made up of articles we submit? If there are no new technical articles, then possibly someone with the proper knowledge should write some.Part of the reason I joined the VCCA 3 years ago was to get assistance with my 53 210.I had very little experience with a car that old and needed some pointers. The chatter II helped with that, unfortunately,I thought I would get some help locally and joined a region, but, that did not pan out...most of the region I belong to has a "been there done that " attitude and the nucleus of the region is aging and is not interested in running for offices, coming up with activities etc.I get the impression that this is a common thread among all regions. My 2 cents.
