It is my understanding that Danbury Mint used the Cameo Cream for the 1941 Chevrolet Convertible (Cabriolet) because that color was unique to the convertible and that only one top (black) was offered.

Can anyone tell me why Danbury Mint chose the Mint (or Mist) Green for the 1950 convertible?

I have an unrestored green one but I think the blue is nicer looking.

Thanks,
Charlie

A black '41 Cabriolet from Michigan was used to get most of the information by Danbury Mint. When shown the colors used on the Cabriolets they picked Cameo Cream. Think that the VCCA '41 Technical Advisor might have had an influence on that decision as it is like the one he owns.

Don't know about the '50 but Danbury Mint did an excellent job of authenticating and reproducing the vehicles in smaller scale.

Danbury Mint had used my 60 Impala for measurements for the one they produced a few years ago, and they built the car with the exact drive train; 348 340 HP with a four speed, however they decided on Suntan Copper as the color, rather than Cascade Green the color of my car. In that case they told me that the color was selected by committee. They had used Cascade Green on the 60 Corvette and they did not want to repeat themselves, they also said many collectors like to have different colors in their showcases. They even borrowed my dealer album to aide in the selection. It was a very interesting process that took about a year and half
