I'm seriously looking at '37 and '41 Chevy coupes, and I need a little information about pricing. Old Car's price guide (latest edition I have is 2007) shows a #1 condition '41 coupe at about $20,000, and what I'm seeing on the market is much more than that. The guide also shows a #1 condition '31 coupe at $18,000, and I wouldn't dream of selling mine for that little money. Any help would be appreciated.

Pricing/value is hard to gauge, especially from a distance. It all depends on how badly the seller wants to sell and how badly the buyer wants to buy. I have my 38 insured for $30K because that's about what I have in it. If I sold it around here I'd most likely get in the neighborhood of $20K for it.

How true. I try to keep a close tab on the amount of money I have in my old 38 coupe. It's easy and tempting to load up the cost with no chance of getting your money out of your car. I've got about $27,500 in mine now and it still needs paint to be a nice car. Mine also is insured for $30k. I don't mind losing money on my labor,I consider that entertainment costs. I post a photo of my pattern car all the time. It's the nicest 38 coupe I've seen. I know he has $60k invested and more than likely couldn't get $45k. Old cars are like dogs, the dog cost 20 bucks and you would'nt take $1000 for it. GRIN

Thanks guys, I appreciate your thoughts. I've always known that the sales price depends on how bad the seller wants to sell it and how much the buyer wants it, but it's good to know some insured values also.
