I picked up an "older" (70's-80's??) GM Delco AM/FM radio at the Hershey swap meet on Thursday and would like to use it in my '63 C-10 daily driver. The wires were cut close to the three plugs and I have no idea where they go or if the three plugs are even in the correct mounting position (they appear to insert interchangeably.
The three plugs are (top to bottom) Black, white and blue, each with four terminals. The terminals are marked as follows and I included the wire colors:
Black plug: E (Empty), M (Grey), F (Yellow) & G (Black)
White plug: A (Light Green), B (Tan), C (Dark Green), & D (Grey)
Blue plug: H (Yellow / Brown), J Dark Blue), K (Yellow), & L (Light Blue)
There's a factory paper tag on the radio body with the following information:
Service Reference No. 40BCMS1 Part No. 16009960 Return No. 995992 Serial No. 1420184
Stamped on the bottom of the steel case is: +RR RR- +LR LR- +RF RF- Lamp Ant GRND 12+
I would like to know, if possible:
1. What year/ model would this radio have been used?
2. Are the plugs in the correct mounting position, top to bottom?
3. What the correct color wires should go to each terminal and what component do they each go to?
Lots of info I'm requesting and I'd really appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks very much, -Bob

The plugs will only go one way, if they have not been modified. The yellow should be ing. black ground grey dash lights. The other two plugs will be speakers, as stamped on the case. I have seen replacement plugs with longer wires at the part stores or like radio shack.

Can anyone tell me what year(s) this radio was used? I'd also like to get a wiring diagram for it.

Bob, If my info is correct, Radio model # 16009960 is a manually tuned electronic (GM Delco 2700 series) am/Fm-stereo radio originally installed in 1980 - 1990 GM trucks. It was also used in the 1980 Camaro as well as other GM cars. It was the low end as it did not have Seek or Scan mode. It may have been used in other years but this is as close as I can ID this model. I believe the connections are: Black plug- Yellow +12V, Black Ground and Gray is dash lighting. White plug- Front speakers LtGreen and DkGreen to one Tan and Gray to the other, don't know which is left/right. Blue plug- Rear speakers Ltblue and DkBlue to one and Brown and Yellow to the other, again don't which know is left/right. There is one listed on Ebay now if you wish to compare photo with yours. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VINTAGE-GENERAL-MOTORS-DELCO-CAR-RADIO-AM-FM-STEREO-/300486525490You may get lucky & find a wiring diagram on this site: http://www.fixya.com/landing/Diagrams.aspx?cmpid=C03A0002K0031&gclid=CIuayaqR_qQCFc9a7AodWy68hwGood luck, Harold

Harold, Thanks VERY much for the information! My radio looks like the one in the Ebay description. I'll hook it up and see if it works.
Thanks again, -Bob
