Hi all,
I have stock wheels and hubcaps on my '49 pickup. What is correct tool to use to remove the hubcaps but not scratch up the paint and damage the hub caps?
I have 2 tools. One is fairly flat and looks like a large dental tool with 2 usable ends and the other has a flat curved end and a rubber hammer looking attachment. The 1st took does not work at all and I am concerned that the other will do some damage. The fit of the cap to the wheel is tight and to force the metal in that very narrow area has got to cause damage.
So what do I really use?
Thanks. Coppertop

I use a plastic body filler spreader. I gently get it between the wheel and hubcap. If I have one that is really tight once I get the spreader in I use a small plastic pry bar that I have making sure I turn it like a screwdriver and not pry.

Thank you for the information. Now all I need to do is find those tools.
I appreciate your solutions.
