Is the Powerglide transmission painted Chevy blue on a '54, just like the engine, or was it originally unpainted?
Thanks, Dane '54 210

In 1954 the PG was not painted although some say it was black which is incorrect.

After about 1937 manual tranmission cases were not painted.
After a discussion here several months back several owners said they coud find no trace of paint on the truck Hydramatics.

The bellhousing was painted blue though, correct?
And on the valve cover, the letters "Chevrolet" should be white, along with the appropriate Blue Flame 125 decals?
Thanks a lot!

The little narrow bell housing (adaptor plate) was engine color. Becareful and don't get any paint betwwen the plate and the block or the PG. The valve cover lettering that is available from the Filling Station is correct. ,,,,Blue Flame 125 (for PG) in white.
