I joined VCCA a couple months ago, and wanted to introduce myself here. I am restoring my 64 Impala 4 door sedan. I have had it since 1982, the first car I ever owned. Me and my 64, back in the late 80's. We were both in better condition back then. My Impala now, just emerging from the garage after 2 months of frame painting, new brakes, rebuild differential and new suspension joints/bushings. http://www.thecairns.com/Impala/

Great job. You gotta be proud. Hey guys, check out his website.
I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.

Welcome aboard David. You have a nice looking car there and it is restored in time to take it to Flint next year. You also have found a great place if you need any questions answered about your car. Keep checking back on the chat sight and jump in on any of the threads that you like.

Thanks for the kind words. There is still a long ways to go. Small photos and white paint hide just how shabby the body is. But all in good time (and $$$$$). I read about that Flint meet in the VCCA magazine and the thought did cross my mind... But that is a long drive from Southern California. Might make an interesting trip to do the Route 66 thing and then to Flint and back home, but that sounds like a 3 week trip

Hey David, I am on the central coast (Arroyo Grande) and I am looking into towing my 31 coupe to Flint. For me it would be around 2500 miles one way. By chance are you going to the all Chevy show in Tustin next month? I am taking the 31 down again. The show is on the 12th of Oct.

I was thinking of going by the Tustin show, at least for the early part of it, since it is rather inconveniently scheduled on a Sunday morning. I was not planning on bringing my 64, as it is still to rough to enter a show. Looking at the flyer again, it says it is Oct 10th, not the 12th. http://www.ocvcca.org/10carshow.html

David,
I've never been to the Tustin show. Around 1000 miles from Portland, Ore to LA is a long drive for a one day show. But, I'd urge you to go seeing as how it's in your backyard. Not to worry that your '64 isn't "show ready" yet. You'll have a good time, presuming the weather is good. And lotsa guys will appreciate seeing your "under-construction" car.
Just my two cents....
Bill.
PS: Don't worry about Sal. He may have typed the wrong date. I can guarantee ya he'll be there on the right day....

You are right David, it is on the 10th. If you venture over come by and say hello. I was just at a show last week-end and had the 12th on my brain. You bet Bill, I will be their on the right day for sure.

David,
I loved your Website. Very nice job. The Impala is looking good. You really should bring it to the October 1oth show. I think you will have a good time.
See you at one of the breakfast meets.
