Will a later model transmission fit my 1932 chevy confederate. If so what year would I look for ?

I would like to replace my 3 speed with a 4 speed if possible.

Why would that seem like a good idea? Just curious.

Leave the correct transmission in your '32 Chevy and you will be a lot better off.

By the way, welcome to Chevy Chatter II. Glad to have you with us!

I know your thinking speed but i also vote for leaving it be. If your concerned about originality. 1932 was a year of rarity.

The only reason I was thinking ot the change was to get a fully Syncro-Mesh transmission.

The 1932 transmission has syncromesh in second and third, and it is a very reliable transmission.

If you want a fully syncromesh transmission get one from a S-10 pickup. The first full syncro in Chevys was 1966 if I remember correctly. The '32 and up to '65 were second and third syncro only.

If you practice a bit with the old crash box you will be able to shift it without any noise. Just hesitate a bit between gears when upshifting and it will just slide in.

How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
